Reinstating Suspended Listings on
Amazon

Client: Jon (Amazon Seller Account)

Issue:

Eight of Jon’s product listings were suspended by Amazon due to violations of their rules and policies. Specifically, the violations involved the use of medicated keywords and images.

Solution:

Identifying the Root Cause: We reviewed Amazon’s product listing guidelines and identified the specific violations related to medicated keywords and images. This involved analyzing the suspended listings and pinpointing the exact instances where these rules were broken. Examples might include:

Using keywords that directly reference medications or their effects (e.g., “pain relief,” “cure for insomnia”)

Displaying images with medical claims or depicting unrealistic product benefits

Remediation:

We meticulously reviewed product titles, descriptions, and bullet points. Any keywords referencing medications or their effects were replaced with compliant alternatives that focused on product features and benefits.
Inappropriate images were replaced with high-quality visuals that strictly adhered to Amazon’s guidelines. This could involve removing images with medical claims or those that exaggerated results.

We drafted a comprehensive appeal for Jon to submit to Amazon. The appeal included:

A clear explanation of the identified violations and the corrective actions taken.

Specific examples of the changes made to each listing.

A sincere apology for any inconvenience caused and a commitment to future compliance.

We went beyond simply fixing the violations. We optimized the listings with high-quality A+ content, including enhanced product descriptions, high-resolution images, and comparison charts. This aimed to achieve a 10/10 content rating, potentially improving organic ranking and conversion rates once the listings were reinstated.

Outcome:

By identifying the root cause, meticulously addressing the violations, and submitting a well-prepared appeal, we aimed to increase Jon’s chances of having his listings reinstated. Additionally, optimizing the listings with A+ content could lead to improved sales performance after reinstatement.
Note: This case study presents a general approach. The actual outcome depends on Amazon’s review process and the severity of the initial violations.

Additional Considerations:

It’s crucial to stay updated on Amazon’s ever-changing policies. Resources like Amazon Seller Central and Seller University offer valuable guidance.

Consider using keyword research tools to identify compliant alternatives while maintaining search visibility.

High-quality product photography plays a vital role in conversions. Invest in professional product photography or ensure clear, well-lit images if doing it yourself.

By following these steps and maintaining a proactive approach to compliance, Jon can minimize the risk of future listing suspensions and maximize his success on the Amazon platform.
